Pit Bull Is Third Victim Of Murder/Suicide
"SAN LEON, TX - An estranged common-law husband used a shotgun to kill a 23-year-old San Leon woman and wound her dog before shooting himself in the head, the Galveston County Sheriff's Office said Friday.
"Sheriff's deputies discovered the bodies of Luvena Hunt and her husband, Brett Priddy, 23, of Newark, in Hunt's San Leon home in the 800 block of 18th Street, sheriff's spokesman Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo said.
"Tuttoilmondo said a sheriff's 911 operator received a call from Hunt at 4:17 p.m. Thursday saying that Priddy was threatening to shoot himself. Sheriff's deputies arrived and found Hunt with more than a dozen wounds.
"Priddy had a single gunshot wound to the head, Tuttoilmondo said. A 9 mm pistol was found near his body.
"Hunt's pit bull terrier was severely wounded by a shotgun blast. Officials euthanized the dog because of the severity of its injuries. Detectives believe the dog was trying to protect Hunt."
