Brother And Sister Found Dead
"CIBOLO, TX — Investigators believe the death of two siblings earlier this week was a murder and suicide.
"Cibolo Police Chief Gary Cox released a statement Thursday morning indicating that Patricia Peek, 68, of Cibolo was killed and that her brother Keith Tanner, 51, of Austin killed himself in the 200 block of Fawn Ridge Drive in the Deer Creek Subdivision.
"The bodies were found by Cibolo Police after a co-worker of Peek’s showed up to her house and found the door slightly open on Monday.
"Peek was found inside the residence, while Tanner was located in the back yard.
"A preliminary autopsy report showed that Peek’s death was the result of being hit in the head with a possibly a bar stool and a large rock, both found in the residence.
"Her brother died after being shot in the chest. Officers found the gun they believe was used, laying next to him, the release said.
"The investigation indicates there was a domestic dispute between the siblings but investigators are still working to determine what took place.
"A family member received a package on Monday from Tanner, which investigators opened to find a handwritten letter from Tanner outlining plans to commit suicide.
"Cox said investigators determined that incident happened sometime between Friday and Monday, after family had gathered at the house for Thanksgiving."
