"LARGO, FL — The hotel employee saw the bloody white towels beneath two bodies and dialed 911.
"A pair of women who had checked into the Suburban Lodge hotel Sunday, both from Florida, lay lifeless near a gun.
"Sometime between Sunday night and Monday afternoon, one of the women shot the other to death at the extended-stay hotel on 6500 Ulmerton Road, just east of 66th Street, in what Largo police called an attempted murder-suicide.
"`It almost looked planned,` said Steve Starrett, the hotel's general manager. `It wasn't messy.`
"No one heard arguing or gunshots, he said.
"When the women didn't check out on time, a hotel employee, conducting a routine room check, found them in the second-story room around 1:30 p.m. Monday.
"One woman was dead, and the other was in critical need of medical attention after shooting herself in the head, Largo police said. She was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center."
