Police Find No Signs Of Gunshot Wounds

"BINGHAMTON, NY — Two people were found dead Thursday afternoon in an apparent murder-suicide at a residence on Liberty Street, city police Chief Joseph Zikuski said.

"Officers arrived at 124 Liberty St. after receiving a 911 call at 3:15 p.m., and investigators are still looking for answers, Zikuski said late Thursday.

"`There’s some indication there was violent behavior; there’s blood at the scene involving the female, so that’s why we’re calling the female the victim at this point,` Zikuski said. `We’re still in the preliminary stages of the investigation. We’re talking to people.`

"The 911 call was made after a member of the woman’s family arrived at the residence and found the man lying dead in the doorway, Zikuski said.

"Officers found the woman inside the two-story residence, along with a note apparently left by the man that indicated officers were dealing with a murder-suicide, Zikuski said.

"Zikuski wouldn’t elaborate on the relationship between the man and the woman. He also wouldn’t provide any information regarding their identities.

"An autopsy will be conducted in Onondaga County to determine the causes of death. There were no apparent signs of gunshot wounds, Zikuski said."
