"It Was A Done Deal"

"DESOTO, TX — A man and a woman were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide in DeSoto, police said.

"Police received a call reporting that someone was trying to break in the front door at 705 Timber Trail around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Capt. Ron Smith said. Smith said police arrived within five minutes, but, by then, `it was a done deal,` and police discovered the bodies with gunshot wounds.

"Smith said police believe the house belongs to the woman’s mother.

"Smith said it looks like a “family violence situation gone bad. Horribly bad.” Family members told police that the man and the woman had finalized their divorced today, and had a young child who was not present in the house.

"No names have been released, but Smith said the police are `99 percent` certain who the two people are. WFAA (Channel 8) reports that sources said the man was a former police officer."
