Argument Over Money Explodes
"TAMPA, FL — A married couple is dead after a murder-suicide at a condominium near the University of South Florida, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
"When deputies arrived to the Stone Creek Pointe condo, 13374 Arbor Pointe Circle, at 6:14 a.m., they found a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a woman bleeding from the stomach.
"The woman was taken to the nearby University Community Hospital on Fletcher Avenue, where she later died.
"Deputies have not identified the couple.
"Neighbors above the first-story condo said they called police just after 6 a.m. after hearing screaming and at least 10 gunshots.
"`It sounded like he just unloaded on her,` said Koby Pumphrey, 21, a USF student.
"Pumphrey jumped out of bed, dead-bolted his front door and rapped on his roommate's bedroom door.
"`Are you hearing this?` he asked 22-year-old Steven Regan.
"Regan called police.
"Regan and Pumphrey said their neighbors downstairs are of Middle Eastern descent and have two daughters. Deputies said the girls are 10 and 14 years old.
"Soon after Regan hung up with the dispatcher, he said he heard one of the daughters run into the condo's courtyard screaming, `Help me! Help me! Somebody call the cops, my mom has been shot!`
"Deputies soon swarmed the apartment, took the mother away on a stretcher and blocked off the area with crime-scene tape.
"Pumphrey and Regan said they heard one of the daughters tell deputies that her parents were fighting over money."
