Victim Suffers "Serious Facial Wounds"
"VICTORVILLE, CA - Victorville homicide investigators are looking at what they say appears to be an attempted murder and suicide involving an estranged couple.
"Deputies were called to a home in the 12000 block of Eleventh Avenue Monday afternoon. A 14-year-old boy called 911 to report his mother had been shot by her husband, who then fled.
"The 35-year-old woman survived and was transported by air ambulance with serious face wounds to Loma Linda University Medical Center.
"When officers arrived just after 2:30p.m., they found the suspect was in his pickup truck parked in the driveway.
"He was dead, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot. A handgun and shotgun were found in his truck.
"Deputies had been at the home earlier in the day and reported an incident involving both the husband and wife. Investigators say the shooting happened in the victim's home, while three children ages 3,5 and 14 were in a nearby room.
"They were unharmed and are being taken care of by a relative."
