"Isolated Incident" Leaves Two Dead

"PALMYRA, PA - A man and a woman were found dead, apparently from gunshot wounds, inside a North Londonderry home Monday afternoon, township police said.

"Police were sent to 24 Palmyra-Bellegrove Road at 12:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a domestic dispute, according to a Web site that tracks police calls.

"Police said a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were found inside the two-story brick home north of Palmyra. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not release their names pending notification of relatives.

"Police said they believe this is an isolated incident and neighbors should not be concerned about their safety.

"The township police and the Lebanon County Detective Bureau are investigating the deaths. The Lebanon County coroner's office was arranging for autopsies, police said Monday.

"Richard Engle, who lives next door to the home where the pair was found, said he saw the man's father stop by the house around noon. Shortly thereafter, police cars arrived at the scene, he said.

"Engle said the couple kept to themselves.

"A police officer stopped by his home and talked to him and his wife, Engle said.

"`He didn't tell us what happened,` he said.

"Engle said he only learned about what happened when he saw it on the television news.

"`The cops were there all day,` said another neighbor who did not give his name said.

"The neighbor said he saw the man using a snowblower on Saturday. He also said he did not know the couple well because they kept to themselves."
