"SHELBY, NC - Shelby Police are investigating an early morning homicide that ended with one woman dead and another man taking his own life."Investigators say they were called to a home on Churchill Drive just after 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning after getting a hang up call from 911.
"When officers arrived they found a man armed with a gun threatening to kill himself.
"Police say a standoff ensued with the man.
"During the standoff police learned that a woman had been shot and there were two children inside the home.
"Officers were able to get the children out of the home.
"A short time later, officers heard a shot go off in the house.
"When officers were finally able to get inside the house they found both the man and woman dead.
"The children inside the home were taken to stay with family members.
"Police are not releasing the name of the victims in this case, pending family notification."
