Ex-Boyfriend Opens Fire
"NEW ALBANY, IN - Two people died after a shooting in a southern Indiana neighborhood. It happened on Greendale Road off of Green Valley Road in New Albany, Ind.
"A friend of the victim who owned the home [said] the homeowner was letting a woman stay at the house.
"According to the friend, the woman's ex-boyfriend kept coming over and started vandalizing the home and cars. Police said the ex-boyfriend returned and opened fire on Friday.
"Friends wiped away tears as they learned of the tragedy that occurred just minutes earlier.
"`(I heard) Four to six shots,` said Robert Arnold, a neighbor. `Come running out here. I was going to get some assistance to stop the shooter, but when I got here, they were dead.`
"According to the New Albany Police Department, the men were shot and killed just before 5:30 p.m. Friday. Police said the call initially was for a domestic dispute, but then, they got a report of shots fired.
"`It just happened so quick,` Arnold said.
"`It was chaos. The blonde-haired girl was laying on the ground screaming, 'call the police. Call 911. Call an ambulance.'`
"Help arrived a short time later, but it was too late. The two men were pronounced dead in the front yard."
