Fire And Bullets
"BRYAN COUNTY, GA — Investigators said a man apparently shot his wife and set fire to his own home before killing himself.
"Deputies discovered two people dead in a burning home at 20500 Hwy 144 around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.
"Bryan County Sheriff Clyde Smith said deputies were actually called to the home next door at 62 Smith Road on a report of someone firing shots at the home. That’s when deputies went next door and heard the smoke detector going off.
"The fire department was called in, and firefighters discovered the bodies of Jeffrey and Gail Minor in the bedroom.
"Smith said investigators determined that Minor shot his wife twice in the head with a handgun. He then apparently used an assault rifle to fire 10 shots at his neighbor’s home. Smith said Minor apparently went back into his home, ransacked it, then set fire to the home in 2 places before shooting and killing himself in the same bed where his wife’s body was.
"Investigators said they do not know what prompted the incident. Smith said deputies had never been called to the home before, and there was no history of any altercation between the Minors and their neighbors."
