Stabbing Leaves Two Hospitalized
"PENSACOLA, FL - A husband and wife are in critical condition after an early morning stabbing that Pensacola police say was an attempted murder-suicide.
"The incident began as a domestic dispute between Michael Stewart, 46, and Renee Cermak, 39, according to Capt. Paul Kelly.
"The stabbing occurred about 6:12 a.m. at Crest View at Cordova, apartments in the 3500 block of Creighton Road.
"Cermak called 911 from unit T-6 at Crest View and said she had been stabbed. Cermak also reported her husband had been stabbed.
"The stabbing is being investigated as an attempted murder-suicide, Pensacola Assistant Chief Chip Simmons said.
"`At this point it is undetermined who stabbed who first,` Kelly said this afternoon. `Both parties are still in surgery, so we can't interview them.`
"A motive for the stabbings also has not been determined, Kelly said, adding both Cermak and Stewart appeared to be stabbed with a filet knife.
"Investigators do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident."
