Deputies Find Three Bodies After 911 Call

"HONAKER, VA — A domestic call to a residence on Tennessee Street ended with the discovery of three bodies April 24.

"Russell County Sheriff Steve Dye said E-911 received a call to the residence of Shirley Blankenship around eight p.m. He said Blankenship made the call as she was leaving the residence and told the dispatchers she feared her son-in-law had shot her daughter and granddaughter. Dye could not confirm a scanner report that neighbors reported hearing gunfire around the same time.

"He said the daughter, Tina Denise Blackburn, 45, and her husband William Anthony Blackburn, 46, and Tina’s daughter, from another marriage, Jodi Caye Sisk, 18, were living with Blankenship at the residence about two miles outside Honaker toward the New Garden-Finney area.

"He said deputies and the Virginia State Police were dispatched to the scene.

"Deputies attempted to make contact with anyone inside the residence numerous times before the Emergency Response Team entered the house.

"They discovered the Body of Jodi Sisk on the front porch and Tina and William Blackburn were discovered in the den. Dye said all three had been shot.

"Detectives from the sheriff’s office and agents from the state police worked the crime scene and discovered a semi automatic nine millimeter pistol they believe was the murder weapon.

"Dye said all three bodies have been sent to the medical examiner for autopsies. He said officers had responded to domestic calls at the residence in the past."
