Sisters Found Dead

"BATON ROUGE, LA — Two sisters, one in her mid-60s, the other 70, were found dead Friday in an apparent murder-suicide, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday.

"Sheriff’s deputies discovered the bodies of Gwen C. Williams, 70, and her sister and roommate, Sylvia K. Cason, 64, after forcing their way into the residence at 3433 Old Quarter.

"Deputies found the women’s bodies in the living room, according to a sheriff’s news release.

"Cason, who was on the couch, had been shot multiple times, while Williams, who was found on a recliner, had one gunshot wound, deputies said.

"Deputies had visited the home after Williams’ daughter, who lives out of town, asked the Sheriff’s Office to check on her mother and her aunt, the news release said.

"After talking to Williams’ daughter, deputies learned that Williams had talked about committing suicide and had said she would also kill her younger sister because she didn’t want her to be alone after she committed suicide, the news release said.

"There was no suicide note, the news release said."
