"No Conclusions Reached" In Death Of Pair
"SPRINGFIELD, IL — Springfield police say people who live near an apartment at 2124 Watch Ave. where two people were found shot to death Wednesday should not be worried about a gunman in the neighborhood.
"`It didn’t look like somebody came here and committed a crime and left,` Deputy Police Chief Cliff Buscher said Wednesday evening.
"One of the possibilities police are investigating is that the deaths were a murder-suicide, Buscher said, but no conclusions have been reached.
"Family members called police about 4 p.m. to report finding two bodies inside the apartment.
"Police said the bodies were that of a man and a woman.
"The Sangamon County coroner's office identifed them Thursday morning as Keon Rice, 28, and Jamie Weickart, 30. Autopsies will be conducted at a to-be-determined time.
"Buscher would not discuss their relationship, but a neighbor said they were boyfriend and girlfriend."
