Police Suspect Dispute Over Dog In Death Of Pair

"ROANOKE COUNTY, VA — The Roanoke County Police Department is investigating a murder-suicide.

"The incident happened Wednesday evening on the 5900 block of Sunnycrest Road.

"The department got a call about shots fired at 8:42 p.m. Wednesday.

"Investigators say a man shot his estranged girlfriend, and then turned the weapon on himself. The man and woman were both dead when police got there.

"Their names have not been released.

"Neighbors say the couple was separated for over a year, and believe Wednesday night's dispute was over a dog the couple shared when they were together."
