Roommates Found Dead In Apartment Complex

"FISHERSVILLE, VA — Two adult women were found shot to death in a Fishersville apartment complex early Sunday in what is described as a murder-suicide, according to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.

"Investigator Paul McCormick of the Sheriff’s Office said the two women were roommates, and had known each other for two years. One of the women was 22 and the other 23, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

"Their bodies were found Sunday morning at an apartment complex on 9 Bolton Place off Longmeadow Road in Fishersville.

"McCormick said both women died of gunshot wounds. Another roommate notified authorities.

"The call regarding the deaths came to police around 8:13 a.m. Sheriff’s Investigator Brian Jenkins said the roommate heard noise, and made the discovery of the shootings when checking to see what happened.

"The investigators also took one of the people at the scene back to the Sheriff’s Office in Verona to interview.

"The investigation by both the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police was continuing Sunday.

"`We are still interviewing and still actively involved in the investigation,` McCormick said.

"McCormick said a total of five people lived in the apartment, and said four were present at the time of the discovery of the deaths."
