Two Dead In Early Morning Shooting

"SOUTH HUTCHINSON, KS — South Hutchinson Police Department responded to a report of gunshots at a local residence about 2:30 a.m. today.

"Sheriff Randy Henderson reported that officers found two adults, a male and a female, inside the home at 229 E. C Ave.

"Reno County Death Scene Investigator John Tracy is on scene assisting in what is believed to be a murder/suicide.

"A neighbor, Debra Moos, who lives diagonally across from the home, said her dog woke her barking about 2:24 a.m. Sunday morning. She let the dog out, sat on the couch and heard something that sounded like a thud. She turned on the porch light, saw nothing, sat back down and suddenly heard sirens. When she looked out again emergency vehicles were coming down the streets.

"Moos described the neighborhood, just a half block from South Hutchinson Elementary, as quiet. Moos said several elderly people lived in the area.

"Investigators were still on the scene at about 8 a.m. One investigator was seen carrying two long guns from the home."
