Two Men Dead In Love Triangle Murder/Suicide
"LUBBOCK, TX — Tina Mckee lives next door to Dustin McLelland and his family and was shocked Wednesday to hear the news that Dustin had been killed that evening. The 22-year old was gunned down in his driveway just before 5 p.m. at the 4300 block of 60th St.
"According to McKee, Dustin's older sister had a past relationship with the shooter, David Castaneda. He had been harassing her for some time and it all came to a head yesterday afternoon when Castaneda tried to run McLelland's sister off the road. She ran a red light and nearly hit someone while swerving to avoid Castaneda. By the time she returned safely home, he was in her driveway beating on another car.
"McKee describes how Lupe McLelland, the victim's mother ran outside to confront Castaneda when he pointed a gun at her. Dustin McLelland rushed outside to protect his mom and sister when Castaneda shot him. He fired ten shots leaving McLelland bloody in the street.
"Police report that after shooting McLelland, Castaneda drove several blocks away and committed suicide in front of the Christ the King Catholic Church. His mother found a suicide note at his residence at the Omni Apartments and contacted police, but by that time, it was too late.
"The investigation is still underway."
