Man Dead, Estranged Wife On Life Support

"NETHER PROVIDENCE, PA — A 44-year-old man is dead and his estranged wife on life support after an apparent murder/suicide attempt early Friday morning in the 400 block of East Country Club Lane.

"`At 3:41 this morning we received a report of a double shooting and upon arrival we found two people shot and one deceased,` said Nether Providence Police Chief David Splain. `We are investigating it as a murder/suicide.`

"Splain said the 48-year-old woman was in `extremely critical condition` Friday afternoon at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. Her estranged husband was pronounced dead at the scene.

"`It’s a long-standing domestic situation and he had been out of the house for some time,` Splain said. `He went back to the house last night, there was some type of altercation, and he shot her twice and then shot himself.`

"Police did not release the identity of the shooter or the victim."
