911 Call Leads Deputies To Bodies
"KIRKSVILLE, MO — The Adair County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the two people killed in an apparent murder/suicide early Sunday morning.
"Sheriff Robert Hardwick identifies the two as 33-year-old Krysten `Kadie` Campbell Johnson, and her 36-year-old husband, Riley Johnson, both of Kirksville.
"Hardwick says the dispatch center received a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. Sunday reporting shots fired inside the Johnsons' home just south of Kirksville.
"The sheriff's office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded.
"Two other adults and the Johnsons' three small children were also inside the home at 23534 Burk Trail just off of Highway 11 West.
"Adair County Coroner Brian Noe says once law enforcement officers got into the home, they discovered Kadie Campbell Johnson's body in the garage.
"Riley Johnson's body was found in a hallway just off of the garage.
"Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Autopsies are scheduled for early this week.
"Noe [said] it appears Riley Johnson was the shooter, killing his wife and then ending his own life with a gunshot.
"The Sheriff says several firearms were found at the scene.
"An investigation into the circumstances that led up to the fatal shootings is underway."
