Bodies Found In Bathroom

"NEW BEDFORD, MA — A man and a woman were found dead late this afternoon in a South End apartment and authorities are investigating the deaths as a possible murder/suicide, according to a police source close to the investigation.

"The case marks the first homicide in New Bedford this year.

"Both bodies were found in the second floor rear apartment at 598 Brock Ave. about 4:30 p.m. today and the police source said it appears they had been dead for at least a day.

"`It didn't just happen, it could be a day,` the source added.

"About five people were escorted from the scene to be interviewed by police as possible witnesses, the source said.

"Angel Goode, who said she is the aunt of one of the victims, identified the dead man as Shariff Goode. The police source also confirmed the identification.

"The identity of the woman was not available tonight.

"Goode said her two brothers told her they found the bodies with gunshot wounds to the head, lying on top of each other in the bathroom.

"They had gone to check on Goode because he was not answering his cellphone, she said, adding the last time family members had heard from him was Monday."
