Shopping Center Shooter Found Dead At Grocery Store

"KENNESAW, GA — A 23-year-old man was found shot to death in the roadway near Red Lobster in Cobb County early Saturday morning. And the man they believe killed him allegedly committed suicide at a Kroger in Acworth, investigators said.

"So far, police have not released motive for the murder/suicide and they have not said how they were able to identify the suspect in the shooting.

"Around 12:20 a.m., officers responded to the scene near Red Lobster at 2626 George Busbee Pkwy. in Kennesaw after someone called 911 to report that a person had been shot, according to Cobb County police.

"When uniform officers arrived, they located the man in the roadway with an apparent gunshot wound, police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said. The victim, later identified as 23-year-old Zakeem Berry of Kennesaw, was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he died as a result of at least one gunshot wound, Bowman said.

"Police did not say where in the body the man was shot. It was also unclear whether he was shot at the scene or simply left there.

"The suspected shooter, 23-year-old Richard Holcomb, of Rydal, was later located at the Kroger at 3895 Cherokee St. in Acworth, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Bowman said. He was transported by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital where he later died from his injury, the spokesman said.
