Argument Over Money Prompts Gunfire
"TRINITY, AL — A man is dead and his wife is in the hospital after an attempted murder/suicide in Trinity. One of their children witnessed the shooting, and the other called 911.
"Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn [told reporters] the man shot his wife, then turned the gun on himself around 8:50 a.m. Sunday morning. It happened a home at 1207 Old Trinity Road.
"Trinity Police Chief Chris McLemore says the couple’s 15-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son were outside the home when they arrived to the scene. When investigators entered the home, they found Angela Cater Wray in the bedroom with a gunshot wound. `Adrian Wray was found still in his wheelchair, with a self-inflected gunshot wound to his head,` Chief McLemore says. He says the couple’s small son witnessed the shootings.
"Investigators said they found a 1911 style 9mm semi-automatic pistol on the floor by his side.
"Med-flight transported Angela to Huntsville Hospital. She underwent emergency surgery. No word yet on her condition.
"Chief McLemore said that area is usually a quiet one. `We had not had any past history of domestic violence calls at that house.`
"Trinity police report the children told them their parents were arguing over money before the incident happened. Police expect the case to be closed shortly. `We’re still waiting on some other results and things, but it seems to be self-evident with witnesses there,` Chief McLemore said."
