Police Suspect "Marital Discord" In Shotgun Deaths

"WEST, TX — Deputies investigating the suspected murder/suicide of a couple who lived just south of West think the action may have been spurred by `marital discord,` officials said.

"Bonnie Lynn Green, 53, and Billy L. Green, 70, were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds about 8 a.m. Thursday in their home in the 20000 block of the northbound Interstate 35 access road, Chief McLennan County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Cawthon said.

"Cawthon said the incident is being investigated as a murder/suicide, but he said it was too soon to say who fired a shotgun found at the scene. Deputies are performing forensic tests to confirm whether it was the weapon used in the incident.

"`I believe that there were indications of some marital discord,` Cawthon said. `This is an unfortunate and tragic result of what happens sometimes when marriages dissolve.`"
