SWAT Team Finds Bodies In Upscale Community
"MABELTON, GA — Smyrna police say the man and woman found dead in a townhome Sunday appeared to have died as the result of a murder/suicide.
"According to police, Jessica Arrendale, 33, was killed by a fatal gunshot wound to the head, while Antoine Davis, 30, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Smyrna police spokesman Officer Chris Graeff said it appeared Davis and Arrendale knew each other.
"Cobb police officers and Sheriff’s deputies assisted the Smyrna SWAT team as it surrounded 6246 Sawtooth Oak Court in a 12-hour standoff that began when Smyrna police received an armed person call at 1 a.m. Sunday. Graeff said 12 neighbors in the upscale Oakdale Bluffs community were evacuated during the standoff.
"After several hours of unsuccessfully trying to establish a dialogue, Graeff said the SWAT teams entered the house at 1:30 p.m. and found Arrendale and Davis already dead.
"A five-month-old baby was found in the house and was treated for hypothermia at Scottish Rite Hospital. Police said the infant was released from the hospital and is in the care of the Division of Family and Children Services."
