Ex-Boyfriend Kills Rival, Teen Before Shooting Himself

"READING, PA — A man stormed into his ex-girlfriend's Reading apartment Monday morning and shot her 44-year-old boyfriend in bed in front of the woman and her 14-year-old son, then drove a few blocks and took his own life, city detectives said.

"Alexis Nogueras-Torres was shot at least once in the chest about 6:35 a.m. in the unit where he resided with the woman and her two sons in the Mount Penn Manor apartment complex at 601 S. 19th St., police said.

"The 43-year-old woman's other son, age 2, also was in the apartment but did not witness the shooting, police said. No one else was injured.

"Nogueras-Torres was pronounced dead at the scene by Berks County Deputy Coroner Matt Mears.

"An autopsy was completed Monday night but results weren't available, Deputy Coroner Chris Chesonis said. The death was ruled a homicide."
