"ORMOND BEACH, FL — Police were investigating what appeared to be a murder-suicide Sunday night involving two colleagues.
"Authorities with the Ormond Beach Police Department said the gunman, who was not immediately identified, shot himself in front of police in neighboring Daytona Beach.
"Investigators said they got a tip the assailant was staying at a hotel in Daytona Beach and stopped him as he rode a bike on state Road A1A at Williams Avenue.
"Authorities said they believe he shot and killed Howard Peifer, 62, in the yard of a home on Druid Circle in Ormond Beach.
"The men worked together in a home maintenance business."
