Two Dead After Argument Outside Courthouse
"HEMET, CA — Authorities say a man fatally shot his estranged wife at the Hemet Courthouse Wednesday, then turned the gun on himself in his car a few miles away.
"Police received a call around 8 a.m. Wednesday about a woman being shot at the courthouse, located in the 800 block of North State Street.
"Witnesses said the man and woman had been arguing, and that he opened fire shortly after they left the courthouse.
"The woman, identified as Aimee Schulz, 37, was pronounced dead in her car in the courthouse parking lot.
"Her husband, 54-year old Ralph Costales, drove off, but witnesses were able to give police a vehicle description.
"Hemet police officers spotted the vehicle, and followed it to Myers Street and W. Devonshire Avenue a few miles away.
"Police say Costales fatally shot himself in the head inside his car.
"His car rolled forward and ended up in a drainage ditch.
"Both victims were at the courthouse to attend a hearing regarding child custody/support issues.
"Police cordoned off part of the parking lot at the courthouse, but the courthouse itself remained open."
