"BURLINGTON, KY — A man attempted to take his own life just minutes after he crashed a vehicle, claiming the life of his wife.

"Boone County deputies were called to the 3600 block of Akin Lane in Burlington at 11:45 Wednesday night for a self-inflicted gunshot from an attempted suicide attempt.

"Deputies found John Marsh, 51, of Erlanger at that home. He was taken by aircare to University Hospital in Cincinnati where his current condition is not known.

"According to investigators, Marsh was driving on nearby Idlewild Road in a 2003 Honda Accord when he crashed. Marsh’s passenger, reported to be his 51-year-old wife, died in the crash.
