Estranged Husband Shows Up With Gun
"JACKSONVILLE, FL — A 50-year-old woman was shot and killed by her estranged husband early Friday morning while backing out of her Northside driveway, then the man turned the gun on himself a few feet away in the carport, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
"Police identified the victims as Marquita Green and her 55-year-old husband, Clinton Green.
"The murder-suicide came one week after divorce papers were served on the husband.
"Just after 7 a.m., a neighbor who heard gunshots called police to 2918 Jerry Lane—near the intersection of Broward and Lem Turner roads.
"`He had a firearm and it appears to be pretty evident that he shot her and then took his own life,` said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Shawn Coarsey.
"Police said it appeared the woman was trying to leave in a hurry, backing over several garbage cans in the process."
