"Well Liked" Elderly Couple Found Dead

"WHEATLAND, NY — Monroe County Sheriff Patrick O'Flynn says his deputies reponded to the report of a double shooting just before 11 a.m. Tuesday in the town of Wheatlland.

"When investigators arrived, they found two people dead in the bedroom of their North Road home. O'Flynn identified them as a man and a woman between 80 and 90 years old.

"`Our deputies received a call at 1167 North Road here for the report of an apparent homicide-suicide. Upon arrival, the deputies located an elderly couple in their mid to late 80s that apparently have been experiencing failing health and they were found deceased from gunshot wounds,` said O'Flynn.

"`We're working with the daughter who was the one that found them and we'll know more once the Medical Examiner completes their investigation.`

"Neighbors who wished not to be identified say the couple had lived here for a number of years, were well liked, and meticulous about their property.

"O'Flynn says the investigation is ongoing."
