Son Kills Dad's Girlfriend, Self During Argument
"PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police were investigating an apparent murder/suicide between a son and his father's girlfriend, police officials said Monday.
"Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said a 39-year-old son was in a dispute with his father's girlfriend, 37, when he shot her Sunday night and later turned the gun on himself.
"The father, 68, owns the home near 19th Avenue and Thunderbird Road where he lived with his girlfriend and his two sons, Crump said.
"The father tried to intervene in the fight, Crump said, and yelled for his 37-year-old son to help. But neither could prevent the older son from firing at the girlfriend and turning the gun on himself, Crump said.
"Police have not identified any of the people involved in the shooting.
"The father and the girlfriend had been together for years, Crump said, but she moved into the home only about three months ago.
"Police have previously gone to the home in response to a dispute between the girlfriend and the son suspected of having shot her, Crump said."
