"No One Else Was Home"
"Greenwood, SC - Investigators say the deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found in a Greenwood County home Thursday night appear to be a murder-suicide.
"Deputy Coroner Steve Owings says 31-year-old Calvin Drennon and 30-year-old Yendia Parks died from gunshot wounds to the head. Owings says the weapon was also found at the scene.
"An autopsy will be performed Saturday in Anderson.
"Greenwood Sheriff's Office Maj. Lonnie Smith said the bodies were found about 6:43 p.m. at 2227 McCormick Highway by a friend who had been trying to check on them `throughout the day.`
"No one else was home.
"More than a dozen deputies, along with the GCSO canine tracking team, worked the scene, which was highly charged with emotional relatives and friends of the deceased. The dogs were called in to look for possible evidence outside the dwelling, a white manufactured home, and to secure the scene, Smith said.
"`We went in, saw two bodies, immediately backed out, secured the residence and called SLED,` Smith said, adding GCSO deputies were interviewing witnesses.
"The home is on the left side of the road headed toward Promised Land from Greenwood. It is separated from the road by a railroad track (Google StreetView!). The crime scene initially was roped off with yellow tape only in the front yard, but the plastic barrier eventually was expanded across the track to the highway frontage."
