Police Standoff Fails
"Dolton, IL - Two people are dead following what police are investigating as a possible murder-suicide after a standoff Tuesday that lasted more than five hours.
"The standoff, which centered at a house in the 14600 block of Avalon Avenue, ended after police entered and found 41-year-old Gregory McClain with a gunshot wound to his head and his wife -- identified as Latonya McClain -- dead at the scene from gunshot wounds, Dolton Detective Sgt. David Spigolon said.
"The man was pronounced dead at 2:25 p.m. at St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Center in Hammond, Spigolon said.
"Shelton Fields, waiting near the scene, said Latonya McClain was being held hostage by Gregory McClain, whom he described as self-employed and struggling because of the economy."
