2 Dead, 1 Hurt After Apartment Shooting

"JACKSON, MS - A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting at a Madison County apartment complex was involved in a police pursuit that ended when he pulled out a gun and took his own life, officials said.

"Two women were shot at the apartment complex at about 1 a.m. Wednesday, the Madison County Sheriff said. Latara K. Starks, 31, was killed, the Madison County coroner said. Another woman, who has not been identified, was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she underwent surgery, police said. Her condition was not immediately available.

"A short while later, a Madison County sheriff’s deputy spotted a truck that police believed was used by the shooter to escape, police said. The driver would not stop, so deputies pursued him through Flora into Bentonia, police said. The man pulled over on Highway 49 North and shot himself in the head, police said."
