Police Escort Fails To Prevent Murder/Suicide

"Montreal, Quebec - Montreal police are investigating the SQ's [police] actions during a murder-suicide that happened as provincial police officers were answering a call in the Lanaudiere region on Tuesday evening.

"A man and a woman in their 60's died in the domestic dispute in St-Jean-de-Matha.

"The woman had returned home with a Surete du Quebec escort in order to collect her belongings.

"When the officer stepped outside the home, the woman's husband stabbed her to death before turning the weapon on himself.

"The couple had separated and the woman was seeing another man.

"A witness on the scene was not injured.

"Under provincial law, an outside police force investigates whenever someone is injured or dies during a police operation."
