Cold, Dead Hand

"CENTER TOWNSHIP, PA - The deaths of an elderly man and woman inside a home in Center Township, Beaver County, are consistent with a murder-suicide, police said.

"A gun was in the man's hand when a nurse visited the house on Chapel Road and found his body Friday morning in a front room, police said.

"`We discovered the male was deceased with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head,` Center Township Police Chief Barry Kramer said. `We went down the hall to the bedroom in the rear of the home and found his wife also deceased in bed with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head.`

"Both people were in their 80s. Police are not releasing their names until their son can be notified.

"One neighbor [said] that the victims were a nice couple and that the woman was sick and the man took care of her."
