Octogenarian Couple Found Dead In Florida

"WILTON MANORS, FL ― Wilton Manors police have identified an elderly couple found dead Thursday morning in their home in what is thought to be a murder-suicide.

"Police say around 6 a.m. they received a 911 call from elderly man in the 800 block of NW 29th Court. The man reportedly told them about a shooting in his home. When officers arrived they found the bodies of an elderly couple inside the home.

"The couple has been identified as William and Janet Mehner, both 87 years of age.

"Investigators suspect the Mehner shot his wife, called police and then turned the gun on himself.

"Neighbors told The Sun-Sentinel that the couple had lived in their home since the 1950s. They say the Mehners had attended a St. Patrick's Day block party on Wednesday night and there didn't seem to be any problems.

"Police have not said what they suspect was the motive behind the shootings."
