Couple Found Dead In RV Park

"LA MARQUE, TX — A Lufkin couple was found dead in their travel trailer Wednesday in what police said was a murder-suicide.

"A worker at the Ron Hoover RV Park, 1803 Interstate 45, found the bodies in a bedroom of a large trailer and called police at 10:15 a.m., La Marque police Sgt. Shawn Spruill said.

"Spruill withheld the names of the two, saying police had been unable to notify relatives.

"The man was in his 60s and the woman was in her 50s.

"Each had a gunshot wound to the head. Officers found a handgun near the husband.

"`This couple was staying there, and they were getting work done on their trailer,` Spruill said. `One of the workers was scheduled to come over there this morning and found them.`

"Police knew of no reason for the shooting, Spruill said, noting he intended to speak to relatives to learn more about the couple.

"The couple could have been living at the park since November, based on the date of a work order for their trailer.

"`They had been down here before sightseeing and stayed at the RV park,` Spruill said.

"Police asked the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office to perform autopsies."
