"There Was Blood Everywhere"

"RIDGELAND, MS — A 44-year-old Pearl woman, wounded earlier today outside her Ridgeland office by her estranged husband, died about 2:30 p.m. at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in what police describe as a murder-suicide.

"Police said Stefanie Willard, a manager at Exam One at 996 Northpark Drive, saw her husband drive up and went out to see him. Ridgeland Police Chief Jimmy Houston said Billy Willard, 52, pulled out a lever-action hunting rifle and shot her before turning the weapon on himself.

"Billy Willard died at the scene. Stefanie Willard was transported to UMC.

"Houston said two of three shots the man fired at his wife struck her. He said police recovered a casing from a downspout.

"Police found a note in the man’s car in which he bemoaned that he and his wife were not living together and saying he had `anger in my heart.`

"Houston said he is not sure how long the couple had been married but he thinks it was about 15 years.

"Margaret White, a nearby office worker, said she heard no hesitation between the shots.

"At first she did not believe it was anything other than hunters. `Hunters are back here all the time,` she said.

"Then she looked outside her window. `There was blood everywhere,` White said. `You see it on TV, but never really see it like that.

"`Who would have believed that would have happened here?` she asked.

"Exam One performs physical exams for life insurance policies."
