Deputies Find Two Dead After Surrounding House
"BETHLEHEM, GA — While the investigation is ongoing, Barrow County authorities Tuesday said it appeared a Bethlehem man shot his mother-in-law, then turned the gun on himself Monday.
"According to Barrow County sheriff's Lt. Matt Guthas, the initial call was regarding shots fired at a residence in the 500 block of Walton Drive in Bethlehem. That call was made around 7:14 p.m.
"Deputies responded and surrounded the residence. Guthas said several unsuccessful attempts were made to contact the people inside. When deputies entered the house, they found 66 year old Diana Freeman dead of apparent gunshot wounds. 33 year old Ian Muriu was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
"The original call came from Freeman's daughter who was married to Muriu. She fled the residence and ran to a neighbor's house after she said she heard her husband fire a gun inside the home, according to the sheriff's office."
