Man Dead In Car, Bodies Found In Burned Out Home

"MARION COUNTY, TX — The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be a double-homicide and a suicide at a home near Lake o' the Pines.

"Sheriff David McKnight says a trash collector called 911 around 2 a.m., after coming across a house on fire in the 10300 block of Farm Road 729.

"When the fire department and officers arrived, they discovered a man sitting in a car at the house, dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"The home was destroyed by the fire. Two bodies were later found inside the house, the first around 5 a.m., and a second around 9:30 a.m.

"McKnight says they believe there are no other bodies in the house, but firefighters and investigators are waiting for the structure to be safe enough to enter for further investigation.

"While it is believed that the man found in the car lived in the house with his wife and stepson, McKnight says there have been no positive identifications made yet, and names are not being released.

"Texas Rangers, the Texas State Fire Marshals Office and ATF agents are also on the scene."
