"EAST RIDGE, TN — East Ridge police responded to 3613 Wimberly Lane on Tuesday night after family members found the two residents dead inside the home, according to a news release.
"Family members of Susan Ingram forced the door open when they couldn’t get anyone to answer. Inside, they found Susan Ingram dead from a single gunshot wound to the head. Next to her in bed was James Ingram, also with a single gunshot wound to the head, the release said.
"James Ingram was found holding a small handgun, missing two cartridges.
"The bodies were sent to the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s office on Amnicola Highway. Officers are awaiting a final report from the preliminary examinations.
"Evidence suggests James Ingram shot his wife prior to shooting himself, East Ridge police said in the release."
