Killer Shoots Himself During Standoff With Police

"OSTRANDER, OH — A man, who police say killed his estranged wife, took his own life after a standoff with deputies.

"Jerry Flagg Sr., 58, was found shortly before 10:00 p.m. with what police say appeared to be dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"Earlier in the afternoon, the man's estranged wife Diana Flagg, was found in a ditch, shot multiple times in the neck and chest, near Brown and Smart-Cole Roads in Millcreek Township, according to police.

"Flagg, 51 was pronounced dead on the scene.

"Witnesses said the man was seen by the woman's body before authorities arrived, and then went inside a nearby home.

"Police evacuated half-a-dozen homes in the area and an additional dozen people were not allowed back in their residences until the situation ended."
