Father & Daughter Pronounced Dead At Scene

"NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV — North Las Vegas police are investigating after they said a father murdered his daughter and then killed himself Sunday morning.

"It happened around 5:20 a.m. on the 4100 block of Hollis Street near Craig Road and Commerce Street.

"Dispatch received a report of shots fired in the home.

"When police arrived, they found 53-year-old Gregory Landis and 25-year-old Amanda Landis inside their home suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

"Investigators said the murder-suicide stemmed from a heated argument. The father reportedly grabbed a gun and shot his daughter, then turned the gun on himself.

"Two other family members were in the house during the incident, but neither suffered any injuries.

"`We both went into shock because they were the nicest people we have ever met. They've been our friends for over five years,` said one neighbor."
