Elderly Couple Pronounced Dead At Scene

"TEMPLE HILLS, MD — Prince George’s County police have identified two people found dead in an apparent murder/suicide that took place in Temple Hills on Wednesday.

"At about 2 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to 5506 Winston Street in Temple Hills for a welfare check, where they discovered Armando Velasco, 72, and Virginia Velasco, 72, both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said. The couple were married, lived at the residence and were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

"Preliminary investigation has led police to believe that Armando Velasco shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself, police said.

"Detectives are working to establish a motive in the case, said Cpl. Nate Lewis, a Prince George’s County police spokesman."
