Ex-Boyfriend Carries Out Deadly Threat

"MCCALLA, AL — A woman and her ex-boyfriend died in a murder/suicide Sunday night, Jefferson County officials said Monday.

"Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies investigated a report of a murder/suicide at a home in the 5500 block of McWaine Drive around 10 p.m. March 16.

"Once inside, deputies found the female victim, Angelica Jones, 26, `gravely injured` by a gunshot wound. The suspect, Eddie Bradford, a 38-year-old man from Ensley, was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot, Chief Deputy Randy Christian said.

"Jones was taken to a local hospital and later died from her injuries.

"Investigators said Jones had recently broken up with Bradford, but he couldn't accept that their relationship was over. Christian said Bradford had threatened to kill Jones if they didn't get back together.

"Officials found Bradford's car hidden behind a church about half a mile away, Christian said. Authorities believe he parked there and walked to the home, confronted Jones and shot her before taking his own life."
