"PALM SPRINGS, CA — Thursday night’s three deaths are believed to be a murder/suicide, Palm Springs police said Friday morning.
"Sgt. Paul Abshire said the victims were two adults, a man and woman, and a girl and were found in a condominium where the security door was closed but the front door was open. They were dead of gunshot wounds when officers arrived.
"Abshire’s statement didn’t indicate whom the shooter was, but said no suspects were being sought. The victims’ names and ages were not included. The department will hold a press conference at 2 p.m. Friday.
"The three were found inside a duplex at 1201 Sunflower Lane East in the Sunrise Palms gated community, just south of San Rafael Drive and east of Avenida Caballeros.
"Palm Springs police Lt. Mitch Spike said the bodies were found in one room, and at least one gun was found inside.
"A 911 call about multiple shots fired came in at 8:53 p.m. He said responding police officers did a quick `sweep` of the residence, but after determining that the three occupants were dead, they left the home.
"Spike said investigators asked the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office to obtain a search warrant so they could do a more thorough search of the home.
"DA spokesman John Hall said a search warrant was obtained and served Friday morning."
