Police Find Young Couple Shot
"CHURCH HILL, TN — A Hawkins County woman has died after being shot in the head by her live-in boyfriend who then shot and killed himself.
"Deputies were called to a home at 111 California Avenue in Church Hill around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday.
"They found Sierra Nichole Smith, 21, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Thomas Kirk McCracken, 20, was found dead, also with a single gunshot wound to the head.
"The Hawkins County Sheriff's Office says their investigation revealed that McCracken shot Smith then turned the gun on himself.
"Smith was taken to Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center where she later died. Her body will be taken for an autopsy.
"The couple's three-month-old daughter and McCracken's grandmother were home at the time of the shooting.
"The investigation is ongoing. No motive has been determined at this time."

On one news video a Teresa Jones, who is a relative of McCracken, said there had been no indication he was capable of doing something like this. However, when you go thru Sierra's facebook page, there were tall tell signs. Postings of hers, "I know I should leave, but I love him so much", etc etc as far back as a couple of years ago. More postings from friends telling her she hadn't been the same since she was with this monster, more and more. It's sad, I didn't know either one, but the signs were ovious just from the postings. People don't want to get involved anymore, people don't want to speak up. I am so saddened for her family and friends. May she rest in peace and may all the women of this world realize they are worth so much more than being abused. :(
